Riciao a tutti :3 sono le 2.08 e non riesco ancora a dormire...quindi ho deciso di scrivere qualcosa...per passare il tempo intanto che aspetto Morfeo :P
Volevo dedicare il mio nuovo post a un gioco di ruolo che forse molti di voi conosceranno...Dungeons & Dragons (D&D)
E' un gioco dove i giocatori interpretano il ruolo di uno o più personaggi e tramite la conversazione creano uno spazio immaginario, dove avvengono fatti fittizi, avventurosi, in un'ambientazione narrativa che può 

ispirarsi ad

un romanzo, ad un film, ad una qualsiasi fonte creativa, storica o di pura invenzione.
 Le regole di un gioco di ruolo indicano come, quando e in che misura, ciascun giocatore può influenzare lo spazio immaginato.
 Nella maggior parte di questi giochi, quelli più tradizionali, un giocatore specialmente designato,
detto master ( chiamiamolo  Dio XD)  seguendo il regolamento e l'ambientazione del gioco, agisce da arbitro e conduce la seduta di gioco, descrive il mondo nel quale i giocatori si muovono e determinai risultati delle azioni che gli altri giocatori intendono far compiere al proprio personaggio.
Ogni personaggio è caratterizzato da svariate caratteristiche a seconda del tipo di gioco di ruolo
(ad esempio forza, destrezza, intelligenza, carisma e così via), generalmente definite tramite punteggi,
che ne descrivono le capacità. Le azioni intraprese nel gioco riescono o falliscono secondo un sistema di regole formalie di linee guida.

Parlando in prima persona ho iniziato a giocare per la prima volta a D&D nel 2012...la storia era ambientata nell'universo Marvel dove io ero un abitante di Avalon con il potere di trasformarsi in un drago..praticamente ero il "tank" del gruppo :P.
Purtroppo per vari motivi la campagna è durata poco e il gruppo si è diviso per ben 2 anni. Poi nel giugno 2014 ho ripreso a giocare una nuova campagna, con alcuni membri sia nuovi che vecchi. Questa volta però non eravamo più nel mondo  Marvel, ma in un universo fantasy, dove io ero una bellissima elfa ( :P ovviamente di nome Yeonlang) druida.
La campagna è durata per molti mesi, con una storia avvincente, che purtroppo è andata a concludersi con la morte (ovviamente finta) della nostra magnifica  guerriera :( ...
Per adesso il master ha deciso di bloccare la storia lasciandoci un pò tutti sulle spine...con la speranza di poterla poi continuare un giorno XD
Ovviamente non ci siamo fermati e quindi abbiamo deciso di rifarne una nuova...questa volta però ambientata nel medioevo...un ambiente un pò gotico con lupi mannari ( tra cui io :P ) streghe e cacciatori di streghe... XD la storia è ancora in corso ...e chissà quante cose ancora devono capitarci XDDD!
Quanti di voi giocano a D&D? Quanti d20 riuscite a fare? XD Che personaggi usate?

World of Warcraft... and its spell on me!

Hi All,

I am back with my first "real" post! Bear with me today, it is a longish one... but only half of it is in English - the rest is the Italian version!

I have been thinking for quite some time about what to share with you. I felt like this post had to be significant and I spent countless hours trying to figure out which topic should be "THE ONE".
I finally rationalized the process and opted for something that is the conscious milestone of my nerd awakening. And this is World of Warcraft ("WoW")!

The second step was to understand what message I wanted to convey. This was an easier task: what can be more relevant - in a blog called "A Song of Nerds" - than disclosing the first steps towards embracing my nerdiness and what makes this game so special to me?

So how did I start playing WoW? Well, I knew WoW before really starting playing the game. My youngest brother used to play when he was in highschool - and I was already attending university!!! -; I was fascinated by the fantasy world in front of me. I liked the characters so much that I would log onto my brother´s accont and I would create characters, mostly night elves. Can you really blame my love for elves? At the time, the movie trilogy of the Lord of the Rings was recent and Legolas was the belle of the ball! Also, the night elves in WoW are tall, slender, strong and have broad shoulders and thin waist. In other words, they are the fashion models of WoW and I wanted a piece of that by making my own female top model night elf as beautiful as I could!

 After years of break, my brother resumed playing and I asked myself: why don´t you do something with him? Why don´t you play WoW with your brother? And this is how in late 2012 I started playing WoW. I played with some characters and I figured out I like classes that had a healing specialization. So I played a shaman and it was love at first sight, Solseit was born!


This is Solseit and yes the shoulder piece does not show her face but you get the general idea I guess, a big blue alien!

So what is the spell that WoW put on my? I still do not know. I love the characters - I have to say I only play Ally - I love the environment; I love the fantasy world expressed in so many different declinations. Also, I am amazed by the epic instrumental music playing in the background which changes according to where you are.
Let´s just say this game works for me. It allows me to be in a fantasy world of my liking every time I connect!

Do you play WoW? What do you love about it? I mean, there is also another fabulous aspect of WoW - the social one - which I did not even touch but it deserves its own post.

Final Fantasy

Volevo iniziare il mio primo post, con una delle serie di videogiochi più belle mai create.

Final Fantasy.

Molti di voi forse lo conosceranno, molti altri no, Final Fantasy rappresenta una serie di videogiochi

di grande rilevanza storica.

La saga principale arriva fino a Final fantasy XV (su playstation 4).

Ogni Final Fantasy ha la propria storia e i propri personaggi, però l'universo del gioco è sempre familiare grazie ad alcuni elementi che ricorrono, come ad esempio : le invocazioni,i chocobo, i moguri... e tanto altro.

Come ogni persona che ha provato questa saga, ci sarà sempre un Final Fantasy che rimarrà nel cuore più di altri.

Per quanto mi riguarda, Final Fantasy VIII è stato uno dei capitoli più belli della saga.

Probabilmente sarà che è stato il primo a cui ho giocato, o probabilmente sarà per la storia d'amore che si è creata tra i due personaggi principali Squall e Rinoa ( si lo so sono una ragazza molto romantica U_U) o probabilmente non so...forse a quell'epoca (visto che è uscito nel 1999) aveva dei filmati talmente belli che mi hanno lasciata a bocca aperta...fatto sta che nonostante

la saga prosegua io continuo a rimanere attaccata a questo Ottavo capitolo.

Avevo solo 12 anni quando iniziai a giocarci e lo ricordo a memoria come se lo avessi finito ieri.

Ovviamente il mio personaggio preferito è Rinoa Heartilly,mi sono legata tanto a lei da utilizzare il suo nome per la registrazione di alcuni siti come forum o addirittura facebook ...ed ero arrivata al punto di utilizzarla sui GDR online XD!!!!

Il sitema di gioco di Final Fantasy VIII era uno dei più complessi sopratutto per la novità principale del gameplay (il sistema Junction), rappresentata

dall'abbandono dei Magic Points in favore alla gestione numerica delle magie. Per molti giocatori questo sistema è stato parecchio criticato, appunto per la sua difficoltà nel gestire le magie.

Un'altra curiosità da dire su questo capitolo è il Design, che è differenza degli altri capitoli, ha un più un'impronta realistica, con un'atmosfera fantasy dovuta al alcuni elementi che ricordano zone come l'arco di Trinfo di Parigi !

Beh ci sarebbe tanto ancora da dire su questo gioco...per non parlare di tutti gli altri capitoli e sottocapitoli ...XD...

Per adesso direi di concludere così!....

Voi miei cari lettori quali preferite? 

( so che molti "tra cui mio fratello" votano il VII! tantè che l'hanno reso commerciale da farci film, e altri videogiochi sempre legati ad esso) ^_____^!

I present to you: Solseit!

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am proud to introduce this blog to you: A Song of Nerds.

This is going to be a two voices blog in which Yeonlang and myself will try to post as much as we can about our nerdy passions and, from time to time, provide with the same story from different angles! Such as in this case: we are proud to inform you about the origins of this blog!

It all started a long time ago…

with World of Warcraft. I was long on the Timeless Island and a gentleman saved my character from certain death. I spent some time chatting with this gentleman who turned out to be the guild master of my guild, made of funny and social players, “I Cavalieri dell’Alba” (the “Knights of Alba”, where Alba stands for a little town in the north of Italy, one of the places where Nutella is made!).

Long story short, I started raiding in the guild, despite being a terrible player. More or less at the same time, Yeonlang started playing in the guild and, although we never really introduced each other, we would actually spend plenty of time online and on team speak. Being the only two girls in the guild at the time – and raiding – we started helping each other and “fighting” the guys back together.

Despite all of this, we still did not know enough about each other. Then mayhem happened: someone decided to start a Whatsapp group of the players. The perfect way to describe the group is the word spam. But in all that spam Yeonlang and myself started understanding more and more we had common interests, starting with My Little Ponies. That is when we started to bond more and more and we ended up thinking this would be a nice project to start!

As for myself…

well, I am a grown woman who just in recent years discovered she is a nerd. It is a new and exciting world and I feel like sharing more and more with the rest of the world about everything that I discover in a nerdy realm, starting from books, comics, tv-shows, movies and World of Warcraft!

Presentazione Yeonlang

Salve a tutti!

Oddio sono emozionatissima e non  so  da che parte iniziare *respira*.

Piacere a tutti, sono Yeonlang, una ragazza appassionata di tutto ciò  che riguarda : videogames,fantasy, anime e manga giapponesi..e sopratutto, una delle cose più  importanti, il cosplay. Credo che ormai tutti sappiate cos'è, si tratta ormai di un fenomeno  mondiale.

Ho deciso di aprire questo blog con la mia amica Solseit per parlare un pó  di tutto: dal mondo dei videogames, a quello dei libri (sopratutto fantasy),anime e manga!

Come ci siamo conosciute io e lei?

A dire il vero  è  un  pò  strano, non ricordo con l' esattezza  di esserci mai presentate xD..

Entrambe giochiamo a World of Warcraft  da molto  tempo e un giorno sono stata invitata  da alcuni players ad entrare nella loro gilda: "I Cavalieri dell'Alba" (ormai diventati come una seconda famiglia per me).

Poco dopo ho iniziato a prendere parte ai raid serali e di conseguenza  invitata sul canale di TeamSpeak ed è  stato li che ho conosciuto Solseit.

Mano a mano che i mesi passarono ci siamo accorte di avere molte cose in comune  partendo  dai My little pony..e da li che lei mi  ha proposto di aprire un blog!

Beh credo  di avervi detto tutto per ora!!!!e sopratutto  spero  di non avervi annoiato 

Ci sentiamo al prossimo post dove inizieremo a parlare di qualcosa!!! Un bacio!
